About Us

Founded in 1894, YWCA GLA’s mission is the elimination of racism and the empowerment of women. YWCA GLA provides services through equity program pillars including Early Care and Education, Senior Engagement Services and Sexual Assault Crisis Services.

The YWCA GLA is the owner and operator of seven Empowerment Centers throughout LA County. In addition, it provides services at five satellite offices; these combined sites touch over 100,000 individuals and  families.

    YWCA Greater Los Angeles provides services from seven Empowerment Centers, including: Urban Campus Youth Empowerment Center in Downtown Los Angeles, Supervisor Gloria Molina Community Empowerment Center in Walnut Park, Union Pacific, Hollywood Studio Club, Angeles Mesa, North Valley, and Compton. YWCA GLA also provides services at 5 satellite locations including: South Bay, Osborne, USC, Cerritos College and North Valley Infant Learning Center.

  • After two years of employment, you are required to participate in the plan, which contributes a minimum of 10% of salary to your account. This contributed amount is free from taxes. You may also be eligible to contribute to your account.

  • Provides educational assistance cost towards courses related to their current profession, including tuition and materials of 15% up to $2,000, in any 12-month period. Proof of registration, transcripts and maintain a “C” grade level or above.

  • Accruals range from two to four weeks per year for *regular status/full-time employees based on longevity. *Regular status/part-time employees working 20 hours per week, but less than 40 hours shall earn the same vacation on a pro-rated basis.

  • *Regular status employees receive 11 paid holidays in the calendar year. Additionally, two (2) days per calendar year will be granted for “Personal Observance” and “Birthday”.

  • Employees receive 15 working days per year for full-time status. Part-time status employees working 20 hours per week, but less than 40 hours shall earn the same sick accrual on a pro-rated basis. There’s no waiting period for sick leave usage.

  • The YWCA GLA honors all requests for leave that are required by state and federal regulations.

  • Offered to eligible employees and spouses/domestic partners. The cost of the insurance is paid by the employee. Specified Senior Management staff receive minimal coverage by the YWCA GLA.

  • Provides a free 24-hour service of assistance to all employees who have a concern that needs to be address. The consultation/referral line is available for employees and family members.

  • Offered to *regular status employees working 30 hours or more per week. This is a $25,000 policy for the employee only. The YWCA GLA pays the total premium.

  • Offered to all employees. The YWCA GLA pays 75% for the employees’ monthly cost only.
